Day 1:
Start your day early. The weather in the morning is pleasant. So, you can relax in the pleasant weather and click some beautiful pictures of the surroundings without sweating.
Start your day by visiting Arthur's Seat. It is a popular attraction in Mahabaleshwar and is known as the 'Queen of the Points.' The best thing about this place is that it is always quite windy here. It is famous for floating light objects. If you throw any lightweight objects like a cold drink cap or straw, it will come up again due to the strong air pressure. From here, you can get a panoramic and scenic view of the Konkan region on one side and the Deccan region on the other.
Next, head to another popular spot – the Monkey Point. Here, there are no real monkeys, but the place gets its name from the stone sculptures that look like three monkeys are sitting beside each other. You can enjoy the view of the valley and the surrounding mountain ranges here.
Your next stop will be Elphinstone Point, which offers a fantastic view of Pratapgad Fort, an iconic Maratha Fort. It is a great spot to click some beautiful pictures for your social media against the backdrop of the mountain range.
After seeing these viewpoints, you may head to Old Mahabaleshwar, home to three famous regional temples – Mahabaleshwar Temple, Panchganga Temple, and Krishna Temple. The Panchganga Temple is one of the most sacred places as it is believed to be the point of origin for five rivers – Krishna, Venna, Gayatri, Savitri and Koyna. These temples also have a rich history that is worth knowing.
Late in the afternoon, after you are done with your lunch and tea, you can head for some activities like boating or kayaking at Venna Lake. It is a popular attraction in the region. It is a manmade lake and was constructed by Chhatrapati Shri Appasaheb Maharaj, one of the descendants of the legendary Maratha warrior King, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Enjoy a boat ride and the scenic view around or even go kayaking. Don't forget to watch the beautiful sunset here. It is a wonderful sight to behold.
Finally, you can end your day by visiting the Mahabaleshwar market and shop some souvenirs and gifts for your friends and family. Among the best items you can buy are raw organic honey, cane items, strawberry syrups, crushes, etc.
If you think day 1 was fun, you can make your second day of exploring the town even better. Start your day by visiting the Wilson Point. It is located at a height of 1439 meters above sea level and is a wonderful spot to witness sunrise. Also, you get a beautiful view of the valley below.
After catching the gorgeous sunrise view, quickly head for your next destination – Pratapgad Fort. It is one of the must-see attractions in the region. The fort is steeped in rich history, and it was at this place that Shivaji Maharaj fought a famous battle with Afzal Khan and killed him.
After soaking in all the rich history and enjoying the view of the beautiful ruins of the fort, head out to the Mapro Garden. Your trip to Mahabaleshwar would be incomplete without visiting this place. A popular attraction in the region, Mapro Garden has a small chocolate factory, a nursery and a restaurant on the premises. It is the perfect place to get a glimpse of traditional Buddhist culture. This Buddhist cave features fourteen grandiose stupas standing the test of time.
